COVID-19 Guideline Updates

Dear brothers and sisters,

A 5 day lockdown begins tonight, 12 February from 11:59pm until and ends Wednesday 17 February at 11:59pm.  As a result of this all our Parish Masses this weekend are cancelled.

However, we will continue to celebrate our live stream Mass on Sunday 14 February at 10:30am with only the 5 people who are involved in the live streaming of the celebration.

Given that Ash Wednesday, 17 February, is the beginning of Lent, the distribution of ashes will not take place on this day. Distribution of Ashes may be available at a future time as will be instructed by the Archdiocese.

We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday by live streaming the Mass at 9.15am.  This day begins our Lenten time of prayer, alms giving and fasting in preparation for the celebration of Easter.  We will commence our Lenten Reflections currently scheduled to begin on Friday 19 February at 7pm via zoom.  Refer to our website for more details.

This time of lockdown invites us again to join our broader community in responding to the emergency measures that have been put in place. We are conscious that we are not only individuals having to cope with what is being asked of us, but that we are invited to see ourselves as a pilgrim people, showing concern and care for others.  This can be as simple as phoning a friend or family member or reaching out to someone in the community who may be alone and feeling quite isolated.  It deepens our awareness of being connected to one another and recognizing that sense of solidarity we all share.

May we also pray for our world at this time of pandemic. May we continue to trust in the God who loves us and accompanies us during these challenging times.

With every blessing,

Fr Martin Ashe
