At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. November 11th became known as Armistice Day. After the end of the Second World War, the Australian and British governments changed the name to Remembrance Day in recognition of the commemoration of all who have served our country in war.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
