10th Year Anniversary Celebration of Christ the Light Parish

Dear Parishioners,

You are invited to a special parish celebration to take place on Saturday evening, 12th February, at the Anawim centre and oval at St Mary's Whittlesea.

It’s our 10 year anniversary of Christ the Light Parish.  It is also our much delayed opportunity to farewell Fr Martin Ashe (now of course Bishop Martin). It will also be an opportunity to farewell our previous Assistant Priest Fr Jude Johnson - he had to leave just before Christmas but we are delighted he is returning for this event (over the next 2 weekends we will take up a collection for a farewell present for him).

And there is more! Fr Peter Carrucan has been helping us since Fr Jude's departure and he will be attending.  Fr Peter turns 90 (yes, 90!) around that time, so we will celebrate that too!

Additionally, former staff members - Sr Anne Hill, Sr Margaret Ryan, Margaret Harrington and Christine Hall have also been invited and will attend.  So it is an opportunity to meet some old friends.

The event will be in the following format:

  • 5.30pm-6.30pm or thereabouts: Celebration Mass in Anawim Centre
  • 6.30pm -7.30pm or thereabouts: BBQ Dinner on the oval (sausages, burgers, chicken) a selection of salads and bread, soft drinks and superdoopers (for kids) will be provided at reasonable prices.
  • 7.00pm or thereabouts: Games for kids under 80
  • 7.30pm or 8.00pm: Presentations followed by cake.

This is an important parish celebration!

All are welcome!  To help us with catering for the evening, we invite you to book with Trybooking: https://www.trybooking.com/BXCJR  before Tuesday 8 February to give us a good estimate of numbers.  But if you can't try book, or forget, come anyway!  This celebration is for everyone!

One last thing.  We have tables but not enough chairs. So please bring a chair or picnic blanket.

I look forward to seeing you all there!

Fr Hien Vu
Parish Priest
