After much preparation, the Parish Social and Fundraising Committee conducted another Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Mernda on Sunday November 28th.
Its purpose was twofold. Firstly to raise money for the Church Building Fund. And importantly secondly, as a way of reaching out to the wider community.
We were blessed with a perfect day, and this seemed to bring many people out to Bunnings, including many parishioners. Our volunteers - about 20 in total - seemed to work ceaselessly all day as there always seemed a queue for a sausage sandwich. All the volunteers worked hard but special mention to Biju Kalathil who cooked for us all day, ably supported by Ray in the afternoon. Such was the demand that we had to go on 4 occasions to the supermarket to replenish supplies! We made about $1100 net of expenses, plus about $300 in donations for the fund.
Frs Hien and Peter attended, as did Sr Maureen. There was much goodwill with customers from the wider community. Thanks to all volunteers and customers who contributed.
