Catechumens received the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil

On Saturday, 3 April during the Easter Vigil, our Parish Community welcomed Mark Lockwood, Robbie King and Sonya Nwokediuko into full Communion with the Catholic Church.

This special event gave true witness to the Spirit of Christ Jesus growing and strengthening the hearts of Sonya and Mark through a time of challenge and uncertainty as a result of the pandemic. Robbie King joined us for his Sacrament of Confirmation after preparing during his final year at St Paul the Apostle School in 2020. Gerrad Harper, our Catechumen, who has participated with Sonya and Mark during this time, was unable to join us at the Easter Vigil and will receive the Sacraments of Initiation in the not too distant future.

Let each of us recall that “Baptism constitutes ‘the sacramental bond of unity’ existing among all who through their Baptism are reborn,”* and is the foundation of communion for all Christians. Let us keep them in our prayers as they now enter mystagogy, learning about God’s self-revelation through prayer, learning and practicing with others.
