At Pentecost Sunday we, the Parish Community of Christ the Light, welcomed and congratulated Gerrad Harper into Full Communion of the Catholic Church. During the 10.30am Mass, Gerrad received the Sacraments of Initiation with his Godparent/Sponsor Rob Williams standing by his side. Fr Martin prayed, “I baptise you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” as the waters of salvation were poured over him. After he had been Confirmed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and received his First Eucharist, Gerrad spoke to those gathered, his new faith family.
Expressing his gratitude to those on the RCIA Ministry Team for their commitment and sharing of their faith during his journey, Gerrad also thanked Fr Martin for his leadership, Fr Shymon for his participation during 2020 zoom gatherings, and Fr Jude in his willingness to join the weekly discussions. Gerrad shared that these and the welcoming he received from the community affirmed that “now, I feel I’m on my way to being the person I’m meant to be.” Over cake and applause, Parishioners took the opportunity to congratulate Gerrad.
